Endoscopy allows a gastroenterologist to look directly inside the digestive tract using a thin, flexible camera. It helps find the cause of symptoms and, in many cases, treat the problem during the same procedure.
Upper GI endoscopy may be advised for
- Persistent acidity, indigestion or upper abdominal pain
- Difficulty swallowing
- Vomiting blood or black stools
- Unexplained anaemia or weight loss
Colonoscopy may be advised for
- Blood in stool or rectal bleeding
- Long-standing diarrhoea or constipation
- Suspected inflammatory bowel disease
- Detection and removal of polyps
Your doctor will explain the preparation needed and what to expect before the procedure.
This article is for general awareness and does not replace a consultation. If you have persistent symptoms, please book an appointment with Dr. Mohd. Talha Noor.
