What is FibroScan?

FibroScan is a quick, painless, non-invasive ultrasound-based test that measures liver stiffness (fibrosis) and fat content. It helps assess liver health without the need for a needle biopsy in many patients.

FibroScan is useful for

• Fatty liver disease
• Chronic hepatitis B and C
• Alcohol-related liver disease
• Monitoring known liver disease
• Abnormal liver function tests

Preparation & what to expect

The test is done lying down with a probe placed on the skin over the liver. You may be asked to fast for a few hours beforehand.
